Crimes in los angeles

Years of 2004 - 2014, Greater Los Angeles Area,
33 Types of Crime, More Than 2,000,000 Crime Records
This is one deliverable for the project that we, Team Sixthirty, did in partnership with Social Innovation Center at University of Southern California. We collected crime data across ten years from 2004 to 2014 from the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department, cleaned up the data to enforce data integration, and generated new attributes (eg. Zip Code) using GIS tools from the geographic information.
After we cleaned up the the crime data, we decided to perform more data analysis to help the citizens of the Los Angeles County answer one single question, are the neighborhoods we live in becoming safer?
In the future of this project, we are going to add more layers such as the LA police station location and economic indicator, into this LA crime mapping. This approach would help us to visualize the relationship between crimes in LA and other factors.
